  1. Gypsy Davey<\/em> (tune traditional) – Every folkie must try and write a Raggle Taggle Gypsy song.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Stranger<\/em> (K.Bundell\/P. Gateshill) \u2013 an old \u2018song\u2019 from our days as the band \u2018Presence\u2019. My lyrics have sensibly been abandoned, leaving Paul\u2019s great lead guitar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Mr Lucas<\/em> (Guitar and flute instrumental: I. Bundell\/P. Gateshill). – Developed from a true event into a life story.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. The Towy and the Taf<\/em> – In Dylan Thomas country.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Darwin at Downe<\/em> \u2013 Darwin\u2019s distress at the death of his daughter Anna.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Turn Once<\/em> (cello instrumental written by Ruth Green) – Influenced by\u00a0two well known poems:\u00a0The Way Through The Woods (Rudyard Kipling) and the Road Not Taken (Robert Frost).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Death is at my Shoulder<\/em> – Composed whilst driving to work one morning along the
    M27 . . .<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. Upon St George\u2019s Day<\/em> – A(nother) lover’s lament.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. Time is on the run<\/em> \u2013 an old one again, composed in York in1984.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  10. Ashes to Ashes<\/em> – To our parents and grandparents and all those who have gone before, without whom we would not be as we are.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  11. Where have you gone to ?<\/em> \u2013 on the loss of our Dad.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  12. Autopilot<\/em> – When weariness settles on the familiar and the unfamiliar alike.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  13. Llangollen Canal<\/em> – A moment of realisation: imaginative but not imagined.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  14. I sailed over the ocean deep<\/em> \u2013 Riffing gloomily off the children\u2019s rhyme of the same name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  15. Far as far<\/em> – How far is far? Where will the future take us? Who returns to tell the tale?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  16. Return to Zero<\/em> – Instrumental – original working title for this album.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    These new songs are once again all our own compositions and draw on our many years of writing, with some musical “quotes” from ourselves in the ’70’s and some songs that have been maturing for quite a number of years. Stories are told, as before, but there is also a more autobiographical flavour to many of the songs.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Exciting new avenues of musical exploration include: Ivor on Harp and Concertina and Kevan on Sitar and Bazouki. There are also many individual and outstanding contributions from our family & friends, including: Bethany Friery on flute and vocals, Anna Frazer on cello, Jeremy Clutterbuck on cornet, Paul Gateshill on lead guitar, Paul White on drums, Paul McKenna on drums and percussion, Harry Bundell on electric lead guitar, Maria Howells on vocals, Mick Daysh on flute, and Shamini Bundell on keyboards.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Far as Far (2010)<\/strong><\/em>
    Their previous album Stood on the Shore (2006)<\/em> was an excellent album of English folk music, and this follow-up is a logical evolution of their sound. They mine a rich seam of traditional material such as the wonderful opener Gypsy Davey,<\/em><\/strong> while their own material is written in a folk style which sits nicely alongside the songs by Anon. In particular, The Stranger<\/em><\/strong> is brilliant (and is co-written with long-term collaborator Paul Gateshill, whose fine lead guitar playing weaves in and out of this album), while Langollen Canal<\/strong><\/em> is beautifully evocative. The brothers are accomplished musicians, singers and songwriters, and their collaborations with family and friends are delightful accompaniment to the well-crafted songs on this record. –James R.
